Since version 4.1.0, Speaker has split support for PHP 7 and 8. If you encounter errors during installation or updating to version 4.1.0+, follow these steps:
1. Determine the PHP version installed on your server. To do this, go to the Site Health section on the Info tab(wp-admin/site-health.php?tab=debug) and in the Server section find the PHP version.
2. Perform actions in accordance with your version of PHP:
< 7.4
If your PHP version is less than 7.4, then unfortunately you will not be able to use the plugin. Update the PHP version on your site to a more modern one to use the plugin. Please review the current server requirements from the WordPress team before perform any actions.
> 7.4 and < 8.0
If your version of PHP is greater than 7.4, but less than 8.0, you can either update to a newer version or continue to use the 7+ version. If you wish to stay with your current PHP version, you need to install and use the compatibility plugin for PHP 7(Speaker PHP7). It is located in the archive that you downloaded from CodeCanyon. Install and activate it as a regular WordPress plugin and after that go to the Speaker settings and on the Advanced tab(wp-admin/admin.php?page=mdp_speaker_settings&tab=design) switch Compatibility to version 7.4+
> 8.0
If your PHP version is 8.0 or higher, activate the Debug Mode and report the error text to our Support Team.
In conclusion, troubleshooting issues with the Speaker plugin version 4.1.0 or higher involves verifying your server's PHP version and taking appropriate actions based on compatibility. Upgrading to a modern PHP version is recommended for optimal performance and compatibility with the latest plugin features.
